What has Happened in the Past?

Generally Android keeps a consistent lead over iOS all year round. Many people are surprised by this because of the amount of people that own an iPhone, but remember, the majority of other smartphones (apart from the iPhone) runs the Android system while iOS is only available for the iPhone. The one time these figures drastically change is when Apple releases a new iPhone. These figures tend to stay like this until the hype surrounding the phone disappears at which point Android will once again build up a solid lead because there are Androids being released all the time.

Why Apple Will Be Happy

According to the leading polling panel Nielsen, the iOS percentage of market share rose from over 25% in October (just before the release of the iPhone 4S) to 44.5% by December. One of the most important points from the point of view of Apple was that they managed to cut Android's market share from an astonishing 61.6% in October 2011 to 46.9% in December just 2.4% above iOS, compared to over 36.5% two months before.

Now, figures like this have been seen before. However, they have never been seen for a ‘midterm’ upgrade. There were two reasons why these figures spiked so much. Firstly, because some of the features on the iPhone 4S made it almost a different model to the iPhone 4 and secondly because Apple released the iPhone 4S to more international markets than ever before.

Furthermore, Apple is rarely concerned with percentages because they still pull in tremendous profits. The one point that many people forget is the iPhone costs more than a large percentage of the Android models, which means that in order for them to make a larger profit they need to sell more models.

The Negative

While iOS will await the release of the iPhone 5, Android will continue to have world-class phones using its system released much more regularly. The well covered Sony Xperia S is set to take the market by storm and Samsung’s latest development will always sell hundreds of thousands of units, and both use the Android system. Plus in Q2 of 2012, Android will release their 2.4 version to the market which will increase interest in the operating system once again. While all of this is happening, Apple will fade into the background. With this being said, this is nothing new and the team at Apple would be expecting these changes.

The figures are clearly misleading. Although the figures are so much higher for the Android system, the iPhone is still the biggest selling single phone model on the mobile phone market by quite a distance, as the Android system is released in many more phones. Many people are amazed how one phone can have such a grip on a competitive market.

I LOVE my new AYL iPad case. I had an Apple Incase for several weeks; it gave great protection but it was also bulky and heavily. It added so much extra weight and space in my briefcase. After surfing on the web and reading the reviews on AYL iPad case, I decided to give it a try. I received my iPad case in 2 days without any cost to me. The case is slim (3/4" thick after inserted the iPad), lightweight (300g without the iPad), and very professional looking. Equally important, it is much more affordable than other leather cases in the marketplace. I have the brown leather case, and the light tan switches were very nice and even. They also took extra care to finish all the corners and edges. No maintenance required to keep this beauty clean. I am extremely pleased with my AYL case, and I highly recommend to people who are looking for a genuine good quality leather case for their beloved iPad.

I gotta second & third what all the other reviewers have said: this is a tremendous value for the price! I purchased brown leather case, it looks fabulous -- really elegant -- but more to the point, it holds the iPad safely and securely and you still have full access to all the ports. This is the rare inexpensive product that's truly well made! It's also perfectly angled for when you need to use the iPad as a typewriter, or to prop it up (which my kids did this morning) to use it as a viewing screen. Also, it was delivered--for free--in one day. I can't speak to durability yet, as I've only had it one day, but it seems to be extremely well-made, nothing shoddy in the construction. You can buy this case without reservation.
